Triphala : Benefits, Precautions and Dosage

Triphala is a combination of three fruits or herbs "Haritaki, Bvitaki and Amalaki". In Ayurveda, it is known as tridoshik rasayana, i.e., a therapeutic agent that balances the three doshas—kapha, vata and pitta.
It is a rich source of antioxidants like vitamin C which helps in boosting the immune system. Taking triphala supplements on an empty stomach before bed can be beneficial for internal cleansing because of its detoxifying properties. Triphala Churna also helps in weight loss as it reduces energy intake and body fat significantly. Due to its antioxidant property, its consumption provides protection against some heart diseases. Taking Triphala powder with milk or taking Triphala capsules also relieves constipation due to its laxative properties.
A paste of Triphala and coconut oil can be applied on the face to improve skin texture and increase skin elasticity due to its anti-aging properties. Triphala is also considered good for the eyes due to its antioxidant activity that helps improve eye health. Triphala helps control hair fall and promotes hair growth when applied to the scalp due to its vitamin C content.
Triphala is safe for all skin types but if you have dry skin it is recommended to use triphala with coconut oil. Consuming too much triphala can cause diarrhea
